31st July 2018 Dr Christopher Marshall, well.....what can one say.....words are just not enough. The NHS could learn a lot from this man. I was seen by Dr Marshall and everything was EXPLAINED in detail, he LISTENED to my concerns and ANSWERED all my questions and generally put me at ease. When it was time to go down for my operation, I walked into the theatre and there he was waiting, he explained everything he was doing step by step and before I knew it I was back in recovery and it was all over. As I said earlier the NHS could learn a lot from this man, it doesn't take a lot, just PATIENCE and UNDERSTANDING!! So all I've got left to say is a really BIG THANK YOU to Dr Christopher Marshall for being such a WONDERFUL and CARING Doctor :-)

Chris was really attentive but also had the ability once I said I was familiar with my sedation and procedure oh well I won’t go into too much detail. Immediately putting me at ease. Even though he is a really busy guy he went out of his way to arrange for a larger gown for me. Service above and beyond!

Very understanding of my disability and gave me plenty of time to listen to my concerns.

I would like to be seen after the op whilst NOT comatose as nothing sinks in.

Response from Dr Christopher Marshall

I am so sorry I didn't get to see you when you were more awake post-operatively. Sadly due to the way in which anaesthetists work the timings of post-op visits are sub-optimal as I am often required back in theatre (to get next patient off to sleep) very soon after the safe delivery of a patient to recovery. it is not always possible to get to see some people post-operatively at all if they are problem free as they maybe able to go home before the end of the operating list! Others may not be seen until either the end of a list, or indeed the next day if working on a different hospital site in morning and afternoon. I appreciate your feedback though, and will do my best to speak to wakeful people! I hope you are making a good recovery. Best wishes Chris

Superb care from this doctor when I went in for my surgery. He clearly explained the anaesthetic procedure to me before my operation making me feel very relaxed and confident about what would happen when I went to the theatre. Very high praise and thanks, not just for him, but to everyone who looked after me during my stay in Worthing Hospital - the care could not have been better!
